42 years of service marks Microlab’s contribution to the Philippines, constantly evolving from then till now, into a micro biological institution supplying state-of-the-art medical, hospital, laboratory, research and industrial instruments to medical establishments across the country.
Forty two years have passed since Micro Biological Laboratory, Inc. (MICROLAB) first engaged in the manufacture of prepared microscope slides for educational purposes.
Since then, MICROLAB has expanded and evolved to become one of the Philippines leading supplier of quality medical, hospital, laboratory, research and industrial instruments.
MICROLAB traces its roots to Hans Arber, a swiss national with a profession, Mr. Arber was an aspiring scientist as a student in Switzerland. As his work later brought him to Asia, Mr. Arber developed a new-found interest in microtechnique. While in the Philippines, he began to prepare slides of algae as hobby.
In 1960, encouraged by Dr. Gregorio Velasquez of the University of the Philippines, he took the opportunity to transform what was then a mere hobby into a full-fledged business enterprise and established MICROLAB. Assisted by one technician and one helper, Mr. Arber began commercial manufacture and distribution of biological slides for high schools and colleges throughout the Philippines.
With the establishment of MICROLAB, Mr. Arber set the stage for what is now one of the most successful enterprises in medical, laboratory, research, and industrial instruments in the Philippines.
MICROLAB has, over the years, continued to reap recognition for its professionalism and excellence in the industry. During
the early seventies, MICROLAB was awarded the much-coveted Sales Contract from the Educational Development Projects Task Force (EDPITAF). It was a project that gave MICROLAB the biggest growth. MICROLAB was also awarded exclusive distributorship of the Automatic Blood Gas Analyzers by Radiometer International in 1980 and Carl Zeiss Light Microscope Division in 1983. The Department of Health also granted MICROLAB the contract to supply 1, 300 Binko Monocular Microscopes for its Rural Health Programs in 1981.

The company distributes a wide array of products which include operating microscopes, balances, ophthalmic lasers, cryostats, derma lasers, patient monitors, operating tables and lights and automatic field analyzers, among others.
I have been using Microlab-supplied operating microscopes, ophthalmic lasers and diagnostic equipment for more than a decade. The reliability of its equipment and the professionalism of its staff is outstanding. Countless patients have benefited from the advanced technology that Microlab supplies and this has enabled our practice to grow and expand. You can never go wrong with Microlab.
"Microlab stands for: Excellent products and outstanding after-sale customer service!"
I have come to appreciate this in Microlab. I like the fact that they are not just concerned with selling products, but they take an active role in training the end users in high end equipment that make investment more sound for the future. I thought that we are just buyers of what clinicians call "expensive toys". But with Microlab, the technical support and commitment to service ensures that these equipment impact our patients for us to take better care of them. Thank you for the service you have given us. May you continue with this excellent work for more years to come.
