Setting the Stage for a Corporate Legacy

MICROLAB traces its roots to Hans Arber, a swiss national with a profession, Mr. Arber was an aspiring scientist as a student in Switzerland. As his work later brought him to Asia, Mr. Arber developed a new-found interest in microtechnique. While in the Philippines, he began to prepare slides of algae as hobby.

In 1960, encouraged by Dr. Gregorio Velasquez of the University of the Philippines, he took the opportunity to transform what was then a mere hobby into a full-fledged business enterprise and established MICROLAB. Assisted by one technician and one helper, Mr. Arber began commercial manufacture and distribution of biological slides for high schools and colleges throughout the Philippines.
